I have a cat issue......?

I have a male black cat and I'm concerned about him biting me. He never pierces skin, but sometimes I'll see this 'hunting' face on him and he gets into this rigid stance, and he'll just pounce on my arm or my leg and bite quite viciously. I'm not sure if I should be concerned about this, if he's just playing, or what. I shake him off, say no very firmly and if the spray bottle is near I spray him too. But I don't think its helping. Has anyone had a similar experience?
